ORGANIZED ACTIVITIES, SPORTS, AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Project Playground strengthens children’s and youth’s personal and social development through after-school activities, sports and support programs five days a week. Everything at Project Playground is free of charge. Everyone between the ages 4 and 18, regardless of background, is welcome to join us.

PLAY ON WHEELS

To honor the commitment to every child’s right to development and opportunities, Project Playground started Play On Wheels in February 2012. Sarah Hodgkinson, Occupational Therapist, and her team of edu-carers lead the division. Play on Wheels is our inclusive division which focus on improving lives of children and young adults with various intellectual and physical disabilities.

SOCCER AND LIFE SKILLS

In 2016 Project Playground won the first Invested DreamPlay Tournament for boys U17. One of the most powerful tools to use in working with youth development, is sport. Project Playground’s soccer team was established in 2010. Today, the program consists of 250 boys (and a few girls) playing in six divisions – thus making it the most popular program amongst what we additionally offer; dance, drama, music and the art.

Our People

Our 50 staff members are highly devoted to the vision and mission of Project Playground. We put emphasis on staff development, and provide regular trainings and workshops to all.

Studies have shown that structured sport- and recreational activities contribute to a positive development of children’s and youth’s increased motivation, concentration and ambition. A combination of these also increases their self-esteem and self-control.

Project Playground believes that the way forward is to be preventative rather than reactive and to focus on the individual in everything we do. Decisions and actions should be based on sustainability and motivate to a positive attitude of life and the people around them.
