Project Playground is a children’s rights organisation.

Founded by Princess Sofia of Sweden, at the time Sofia Hellqvist, and Frida Vesterberg, in response to the inequalities and lack of access to opportunities that persist due to the legacy of apartheid in South Africa, We have been in existence since 2010, and currently work with 450 participants and 1700 family members

Project Playground is a a registered non profit trust and PBO.

Our model is underpinned by the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child, our Child Protection Policy and by data collected from 15+ years of developing an extensive framework for Monitoring and Evaluating, producing monthly and quarterly reports informing our operations in South Africa. 

We are audited on a monthly basis to ensure quality financial management.
